Two-time Italian Champions Lazio have been dealt a huge blow after Super Eagles midfielder Oluwafisayo Dele-Bashiru suffered an injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old played just 14 minutes in the Olimpico derby on Sunday before he was taken off and replaced by Reda Belahyane.

His thigh was heavily strapped as he made his way to the substitute’s bench, and upon further examination, the severity of the injury was confirmed.

Dele-Bashiru suffered a thigh injury
According to Football Italia, the former Manchester City midfielder sustained a lesion to the femoral bicep in his right leg.

He is expected to be out for about a month, joining Matias Vecino and Nicolo Rovella, who are also sidelined for several weeks.

Bashiru’s injury means he’ll miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying fixtures against Lesotho and the Republic of Benin during the October International break.

Selection headache for Eric Chelle
With Victor Osimhen still recovering from an ankle injury, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru joins Ola Aina on the Super Eagles’ injury list.

With Aina and the Lazio man’s absence confirmed, Eric Chelle will be hoping for Osimhen’s return within the next week if Nigeria are to stand any chance of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
