In recent days, Lei Jun has posted several updates on Weibo to reiterate Xiaomi’s safety-first design philosophy for its vehicles. He stated that Xiaomi cars are built to meet the industry’s most stringent safety standards, featuring a steel–aluminum hybrid body with over 90% high-strength steel and aluminum, and a torsional rigidity of 51,000 Nm/deg. The battery system, he added, is also designed according to the highest safety requirements.

Lei emphasized that safety outweighs everything in Xiaomi’s automotive strategy, which includes four layers of protection: passive safety, active safety, battery safety, and privacy safety.
