Newly elected chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association, Mr Gafar Odubote has tasked alumni with promoting infrastructural development, scholarships, and student mentorship in their alma mater.
Odubote gave the charge following the emergence of a new exco of the MAPOLY Alumni, Lagos chapter, at its biennial general meeting held on Saturday.
Speaking, he pledged to revitalise alumni engagement by expanding outreach efforts and fostering active participation across various sectors.
Odubote also unveiled plans to establish a structured funding framework to support impactful alumni projects.
This is as he spoke of plans including introducing mentorship programmes, networking opportunities, and business support initiatives to empower members.
He assured members of his commitment to enhancing the association’s visibility and influence within and beyond the MAPOLY community.
He further called on all members to unite in achieving the association’s collective aspirations.
The outgoing Chairman, Mr Olusegun Rufus, urged the new leadership to build on past achievements and pledged his unwavering support whenever needed.
A former National President of the Lagos Chapter, Mr Olalekan Otun, encouraged MAPOLY alumni nationwide to invest in their alma mater through initiatives such as hostel construction and other strategic partnerships capable of propelling the 46-year-old institution to greater heights.
Odubote emerged alongside 11 other executive council members including Ms Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion (Vice Chairperson), Mr Steven Eyanimo (Secretary), Mr Ayodokun Waheed (Assistant Secretary), Mr Adekunle Okunowo (Treasurer), Mr Ibubukun Awoseye (Financial Secretary), Mr Tobilola Adeboye (Assistant Financial Secretary).
Others elected are, Mr Olusegun Koiki (Public Relations Officer), Ms Omowunmi Akisanmi (Welfare Director), and Ms Olushola Adewunmi (Chief Whip). Additionally, Pastor Samuel Kehinde and Mr Olusegun Rufus were elected as Ex-Officio members.
A former chapter chairman and the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr Tolu Ojemuyiwa, alongside Mr Goke Ishola, representing the national body, and Mr Cyrus Johnson coordinated the election.
