Metacritic Reveals The 10 Worst-Rated Video Games Of 2024

Six of which have released on Xbox

Image: Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed ClashSorry to put things on a downer exactly one day after Christmas (!), but considering we recently highlighted Metacritic’s top Xbox games of the year, as well as the Pure Xbox Game of the Year, we’re intrigued to look at the worst as well!

Things are a bit difficult with Metacritic though, because their “Worst Games” list only categorises games that have received at least four professional reviews. Sometimes, a game that appears on Xbox might not make the list because it’s only had four reviews for PS5, for example, and sometimes a game just gets better reviews for certain platforms!

So, here are the 10 worst games (with at least four professional reviews) according to Metacritic:

Utopia City (23 – PC)
Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat (41 – Mobile)
HappyFunland (43 – PSVR2)
Food Truck Simulator (Xbox – 43)
Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash (44 – PS5)
Stranger Things VR (44 – Meta Quest)
Transformers: Galactic Trials (45 – PS5)
PO’ed: Definitive Edition (46 – PC)
Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports (47 – PS5)
Metal Slug Attack Reloaded (48 – Nintendo Switch)

If we look at just the Xbox side of things, there are a few other poor performances this year for the likes of the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and even Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.

On the whole though, it really hasn’t been too bad of a year for “poor” games on Xbox. You’re always going to get a few stinkers, but looking at this list, along with the masses of titles we’ve enjoyed in 2024, we’re pretty happy overall!
