Millie Bobby Brown Is Now a Redhead

Goodbye Millie Bobby Blonde, and say hello to Millie Bobby Burgundy!

Millie Bobby Brown (Bon Jovi) stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of Stranger Things season five last night, debuting her latest hair transformation. ā€œI’m wearing custom Rodarte for the funeral of the show,ā€ the actor told press on the red carpet. The recent British Vogue cover star, styled by Ryan Young, wore a custom Rodarte gown with metallic and sheer tulle detailing, black feathers dramatically lining the bust and silhouette to fall into a beaded train. With silver Chopard earrings and rings, it was sensual, dark, and romantic. She walked the carpet with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, who wore a burned red velvet suit.

Her hair, by celebrity hairstylist Pete Burkill, followed the same sensual rhythm, taking on a deep wine tone (Maybe burgundy, maybe more Cabernet? or Merlot?). It was styled in an elegant up-do with a center part and wispy front-pieces.

ā€œThe intention was to keep Millie’s hair feeling effortlessly undone—as though she could have swept it up herself,ā€ Burkill tells Vogue. ā€œThere’s a natural ease to the shape, with a soft, face-framing texture that complements the gown’s clean neckline.ā€ Burkill used The Smooth Company Hair Wand to keep flyaways at bay and maintain a refined yet relaxed finish.

ā€œThroughout this press tour, we’ve been leaning into a more lived-in, timeless aesthetic,ā€ shares Burkill, ā€œsomething fresh, understated, and quietly confident—and this first premiere look really captures that spirit: elevated, but never overworked.ā€

ā€œThe red is something we’ve wanted to explore for a while,ā€ says Burkill. They created a temporary vivid gloss by mixing Goldwell Elumen Red with Millie’s own brand Florence By Mills’s Mane Character Vibes Hair Mask. ā€œIt gave us the perfect balance of richness, shine, and playfulness for the night.ā€

Burkill is a longtime member of the MBB glam team, while also styling the likes of Anna Kendrick, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian.

The Stranger Things and Enola Holmes actor debuted her bleach-blonde hair back in February, when she swapped her signature mid-brown for a Britney-esque shade–speedily executed by Hershesons’s colorist Veronica Wysocka. (She shared that the process from brunette to blonde was done in 12 hours). Across several months of press appearances and red carpets, Millie and Burkill experimented with bombshell waves, elegant up-dos, and a set of zany, ’90s-coded space buns. Her shade change also paralleled a distinctive style shift, as she donned noughties-era archival HervĆ© LĆ©ger and skintight LBDs, quadruple leopard print, and strong, feminine silhouetted gowns. As a blonde, MBB was having a lot of fun. And while she’s experimented with waist-length locks and a choppy little bob, Millie has since made a more permanent return to a light brunette.

The world of celebrity has heard the call of copper locks. Pamela Anderson—one of our most famous blondes—debuted an auburn shaggy bob back in September, while Practical Magic 2’s Joey King has kept up her witchy red. Fall feels like the perfect time to delight in the autumnal shades—whether you’re feeling fire engine, cherry cola, or ginger, there’s a red for everyone.

If the chameleonic stars’s back catalog of looks is anything to go by, this gothic shade of red might not even last that long. Millie Bobby Brown, Millie Bobby Blonde, Millie Bobby Burgundy—what’s next? She loves to keep us guessing.
