Singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Molly D’Ago unveils her latest single/lyric video, “CHAINED.” Co-written by D’Ago, Dawson Black, and Myles Clayborne, who also produced the song, “CHAINED” features D’Ago and Jaxon Wilder on vocals. D’Ago and Damien Crowe wrote the lyrics.
When she was in grade school, D’Ago started playing guitar. In high school, she joined the garage band Pacinello, which soon found itself touring nationally and inking a recording contract with Arrowhead Records.
Collaborations with The All-American Rejects, Pop Evil, and Frankie Ballard, elevated D’Ago’s profile and reputation as a wicked guitarist. Few knew that at the same time, she was studying law at Syracuse University and was later admitted to practice law in two states.
Referring to D’Ago’s ability on the guitar, Jasen Rokk described her as “the woman version of Eddie Van Halen.”
Almost serendipitously, D’Ago encountered her voice – she could sing! In 2022, she released her single, “End of the World,” which hit number 38 on the U.S. Rock Charts, putting D’Ago on the map. Shortly thereafter, D’Ago signed with Wake Up Music Group, run by Pepper Gomez.
According to D’Ago, “The Wake Up team is a breath of fresh air for me. Pepper Gomez heard what I was up to with the new music, and she had a vision for me that we’ve been working together to bring to light, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s brought me a new sense of empowerment to keep doing what I love. It’s great to know [the team] believes in this music as much as I do.”
Released in 2023, “My Sweet Burning Heart” took the top spot on the International DRT Chart, where it remained for more than a year. The song’s success resulted in myriad features, interviews, and performances on ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates.
“CHAINED” opens on muted dirty guitars topped by D’Ago’s soft, Siren-like vocals and then takes on muscular precision laden with layers of thick, murky energy. There’s a dark, mysterious quality to D’Ago’s voice, at once dripping with shadowy sensuality and spine-chilling revelation. Wilder’s voice, ghostly yet potent, adds echoes of spectral tones.
