Naughty Dog, the famed developer of “Uncharted” and “The Last of Us” games, finally revealed their new IP at this year’s game awards.
Titled “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” the space-set boasts a “Cowboy Bebop”-esque retro sci-fi tone and will star “Sabrina” and “Uncharted” film alum Tati Gabrielle as the lead character, Jordan A. Mun.
Jordan is a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago.
In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.
Kumail Nanjiani co-stars in the game and can be briefly seen in the trailer. Neil Druckmann directs the new title which will boast a score by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
In development since 2020, the company calls this an “emotional, character-driven epic journey” with the “deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history” with what sounds like a bigger focus on gameplay over cinematics.
The game is in development for PS5, check out the early trailer below:
