Retroware and Zenovia Interactive have finally released a free demo of Neon Inferno on Steam. The demo includes a full level of local co-op and Steam Remote Play support. Players can also take on the tough 1-credit Arcade Mode or explore different difficulty options and settings.

This news came after the two studios announced their partnership and revealed the release window of the game. Additionally, it will also be taking part in Steam’s Couch Co-Op Fest from 10 to 17 February. The game launching on all platforms in Q3 2025, so make sure to keep an eye out.

Neon Inferno takes inspiration from classics like Contra and Wild Guns, delivering non-stop action across both the foreground and background. Set in a dystopian New York City in 2055, each level is packed with relentless enemies and towering bosses, turning every battle into a high-speed fight for survival.

Players step into the shoes of Angelo or Mariana, enforcers for a rising crime family fighting to seize control of the city. But danger lurks everywhere as violent syndicates and a corrupt NYPD stand in their way, forcing them into brutal, unforgiving combat where every move could mean victory or defeat.

The game features a “Bullet Time” ability that lets players deflect projectiles and send them flying back at enemies, whether up close or from a distance. Equipment upgrades between missions allow for deeper customization, while multiple difficulty levels and an Arcade Mode keep the action fresh. With solo and two-player co-op options, every mission can be tackled in a way that fits each player’s approach.
