Nigeria’s commitment to non-oil exports inviolable: NEPC

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has described its commitment to non-oil exports as “sacrosanct.”

The Coordinator of the NEPC in Imo State, Anthony Ajuruchi, said this at a breakfast meeting with performing and registered exporters in Owerri, on Friday.

Mr Ajuruchi said that the meeting was convened by the NEPC to provide the platform for an interface with exporters in the state.

He said that among other things, it was necessary to chart a way forward by seeking ways to double non-oil export from the state.

He added, “ Non-oil exports are more important to us as a nation now more than ever and we must get it right because our commitment to non-oil exports is sacrosanct. Imo State has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and we are here to see what we can do to double our efforts. Granted, there are challenges but they are not insurmountable and that is why we have come to the round table with performing exporters to seek ways to address them.”

He assured exporters of Federal Government’s commitment to ease of doing business as evidenced by available incentives.

Among those present at the meeting was Martin Nwoga, the Chief Executive Officer of Sochi Foods, a leading company in cassava processing in Imo State, that has commenced export of quality cassava flour and garri to the U.S.

Also present was another major exporter and CEO of Cardif Trust, Deola Ilechukwu.
