Here’s what the first user reviews are saying

It’ll come as no surprise to hear that professional Oblivion Remastered reviews haven’t been very plentiful following the game’s shadow drop release a few hours ago, but there are plenty of user reviews that we can dig into instead!
On the Xbox Store, Oblivion Remastered has received almost entirely positive reviews so far, culminating in a 4.9/5 rating in both the UK and US based on over 2,000 user reviews. On Steam, Oblivion Remastered has been reviewed as “Very Positive” based on almost 1,000 ratings, and on the PS5 Store it has another incredible review score of 4.96/5.
Here’s what some of the Oblivion Remastered user reviews have been saying today:
RawxiaOfficial on Steam: Overall, a great “remake” as opposed to remaster. Game is fantastic and kept to the original foundation with amazing little add-ons.
Plantlord14 on Xbox: Just finished the tutorial and my eyes are wet. Bethesda and now big V ARE the remake benchmark alongside Capcom and the RE IP. Couldn’t dream for such fluidity in combat, appearance, and most importantly maintaining Oblivion 2006’s ABSURDITY in animations + dialect of all the races!!!
Hazard Maks on Steam: I grew up with Oblivion, sunk thousands of hours into the original game and I can safely say that this remaster is a labor of love! The music, the locations, the updated details on every item… I simply have no words. TES IV Oblivion might as well be the game of yet another year!
RedMayhem513 on Xbox: Absolutely amazing gorgeous remaster, feels like a whole new game. But all of it seems so familiar and nostalgic! 1010 so far!. Now if we can get a Fallout 3 and New Vegas remaster with the same treatment, we’ll be in business!
There’s so much positivity floating around about Oblivion Remastered right now, but that’s not to say everyone’s enamoured with it – we’ve spotted a few grumbles about some performance woes in particular on various systems.
We’ve kind of reviewed Oblivion Remastered ourselves here at Pure Xbox, although it’s classed as a “Hands On” because we’ve only played around an hour so far – and we also mentioned some performance concerns on Series X:
So, that’s how things are looking right now with these Oblivion Remastered reviews, and clearly there’s a lot of love being shared for the game in the first few hours. It’ll be interesting to see how things fare when all the hype dies down and people are able to sink some real time into it, so here’s hoping the positivity train keeps on rolling this week!
