Entertainment critic Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has shared his thoughts on the issue of contradictory prophecies, particularly surrounding elections, emphasizing that these conflicting messages tarnish the image of God.
Speaking on United Showbiz, Arnold highlighted that since prophets are seen as representatives of God, their messages should be consistent. However, the opposing views shared by some prophets cause confusion and erode trust in religious leaders.
“We are mocking God when one representative says one thing, and another says the opposite. This creates mistrust. One of the reasons people go to church is trust, they believe something divine will happen. But when two prophets give conflicting accounts on the same matter, it makes people question if they’re in the right place. Membership in churches is decreasing because of the growing lack of trust in pastors these days,” he explained.
Arnold recalled the 2019 incident when Rev. Owusu Bempah predicted the death of the Chief Imam, which led to Muslim youths attacking his church, damaging property, and assaulting members. He noted that such prophecies can incite unrest.
In closing, Arnold stressed the need to hold prophets accountable for false prophecies, stating, “We need to confront prophets whose declarations do not come to pass.”
