The Alchemist
Netflix’s “Adolescence” director Philip Barantini is in discussions to direct an epic film adaptation of Paul Coelho’s famed novel “The Alchemist” at Legendary. The book has sold over 150 million copies and is the most translated work by a living author.
The book follows Santiago, a young man who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. Jack Thorne, who also worked on “Adolescence,” is attached to write with production aiming to begin in 2026. Barantini also recently helmed the upcoming “Enola Holmes 3”. [Source: Variety]
Carrie
Amazon Prime Video has officially ordered Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation “Carrie” to series with the season to consist of eight episodes. Trevor Macy will executive produce alongside Flanagan, while Summer H. Howell (“Curse of Chucky”) is nearing a deal to star.
The project is dubbed a bold and timely reimagining of the story of Carrie White who finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public high school, a bullying scandal that shatters her community and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers. [Source: THR]

Apple has unveiled a new trailer promoting its Summer 2025 shows, though some titles included here aren’t likely to debut before the Fall. The promo offers good looks at “Chief of War,” “Echo Valley,” “The Studio,” “Murderbot,” “The Morning Show” Season 4, and “Your Friends & Neighbours” along with brief glimpses of “Slow Horses” Season 5, “Platonic” and “Stick” as well as Guy Ritchie’s “Fountain of Youth” film.
The Last of Us: Complete
Sony PlayStation has announced “The Last of Us: Complete,” a PS5 bundle of both the 2022 “The Last of Us Part I” remake and 2024 “The Last of Us Part II Remastered”.
It has been made available to buy digitally now on the PlayStation store for $100 – a discount of $20 from buying the two titles separately. A physical collector’s edition version is also being released on July 10th.
