Grand Theft Hamlet

MUBI has acquired U.S. theatrical and global streaming rights to award-winning documentary “Grand Theft Hamlet” with plans for a U.S. theatrical run next year. All five screenings of the film at this month’s BFI London Film Festival are sold out.

The film was shot during the COVID-19 lockdown entirely within “Grand Theft Auto Online” and follows two unemployed actors who decided to try staging a performance of Hamlet within the game. [Source: THR]

Karate Kid: Legends

The upcoming new “The Karate Kid” film has scored the title “Karate Kid: Legends” ahead of the film’s release in cinemas on May 30th 2025.

Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan co-star in the film alongside Ben Fong, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Shaunette Renée-Wilson, and Aramis Knight. [Source: Hollywood Handle]

RIP

Kyle Chandler is set to play a DEA agent in Joe Carnahan’s new crime thriller “RIP” at Netflix. Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Sasha Calle, Nestor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Teyana Taylor co-star.

Set against the backdrop of an investigation into the murder of a fellow officer, a team of Miami cops discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house. As trust begins to fray, outside forces learn about the cash and the pressure increases – leading to moral dilemmas and deadly confrontations. [Source: THR]

Peaky Blinders: The Movie

Stephen Graham has officially signed on to join the “Peaky Blinders” movie at Netflix, a project that is currently shooting. He joins returning cast members like Cillian Murphy and new to the franchise actors like Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth.

Graham played the recurring role of Hayden Stagg, a union convener stealing opium from the gang, in the sixth and final season of the BBC series. It;s unclear if he’s reprising the role or playing a new character. [Source: Deadline]

Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles

Aspyr is set to re-release the classic 2000 video game “Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles”. Originally released on the PS1 and Dreamcast, the title will hit PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS5 and Steam on January 23rd.

The re-release promises 13 newly unlocked playable characters which Aspyr says are “beyond the original line-up”. All secret characters and levels will be unlocked from the beginning, and the couch co-op mode from the original game returns too along with the Versus and Training modes from the Dreamcast version.
