Rajasthan: Tiger safari will now be available in Jaipur’s Nahargarh Biological Park

Jaipur’s latest attraction will usher in a new era and attract nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts from far and near. It’s the newest Tiger Safari.

As per a recent development, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated a Tiger Safari at Nahargarh Biological Park, which marked a significant step in the state’s wildlife conservation efforts.

During the event, Sharma also named two tiger cubs born at the park, christening the female cub ‘Skandi’ and the male cub ‘Bheem,’ adding a personal touch to the occasion.

The safari, spread across an area of 30 hectares, was developed at a cost of INR 453 lakh and features a 7 km track, which will offer visitors an opportunity to see tigers in their natural habitat.

In reference to this, officials from the know-how stated that the project will contribute to the growth of national awareness for tiger protection, in addition to increasing tourism in the area.

The Tiger Safari is the latest addition to Nahargarh Biological Park, which already features a Lion Safari and spans 720 hectares within the larger Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary, which covers 5,240 hectares.

During his speech, Chief Minister Sharma emphasised the importance of Wildlife Week, and elaborated how crucial it is to safeguard wildlife and the environment for coming generations. The chief minister encouraged young people to get involved in conservation efforts by offering free admission to Nahargarh Biological Park for students during Wildlife Week as part of these events.

As per the reports, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Forest Department joined hands to materialise this project, Tiger Safari. Sharma appreciated Rajasthan’s dedication to protecting wildlife once more, pointing out that the state presently has four biological parks, three national parks, 26 wildlife sanctuaries, and 36 conservation reserves. The state now has about 130 tigers in its population as a result of these persistent efforts.
In addition to the Tiger Safari, the JDA has developed two new parks in the Jaipur district, including Nagar Van in Zerota and Biodiversity Park near Nevta.

The Chief Minister further spoke about ongoing afforestation efforts, including campaigns like ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Maha Abhiyan,’ which aim to plant millions of saplings across the state. Under the ‘Hariyalo Mission,’ the government is planning to grow 10 crore saplings annually over the next five years, which indicates the state’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
