Actress Vinodhini has announced her departure from actor Kamal Haasan’s political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). In a social media post, she expressed her sentiments regarding this decision. She mentioned that politics is a vast ocean requiring thought, action, and resources to bring change. While she possesses thoughts and ideas, Vinodhini acknowledged her limitations in other aspects like finances.
Over the past 1.5 years, her efforts and resources were focused on improving her quality of life and supporting street animals like dogs, cats, and cattle. She admitted to acting as a “slacker” within the party and said accepting this truth gives her freedom.
Vinodhini highlighted that full-time involvement and financial backing are necessary for impactful political contributions, which she feels she lacked. Despite questioning many party decisions, she appreciated the opportunities to interact directly with Kamal Haasan and contribute to several initiatives. She confessed she couldn’t fully utilize these opportunities.
She emphasized that Tamil Nadu, as well as herself, missed out on Kamal Haasan as a capable leader. Her focus will continue to be on Tamil Nadu politics through thoughts and ideas, as she aims to spark even a small change in her homeland. Vinodhini concluded by thanking Kamal Haasan and others in the party for their support and inspiration.
Vinodhini joined MNM in 2023 and has now officially exited the party.
