Yes, will be pre-ordering and buying a Switch 2. First ever system I’ll have purchased at launch, but having kids did this to me or I’d have waited a year or 2 like I’ve always done. Likely Mario Cart World and perhaps upgrade Mario Party Jamboree will be all we buy in 2025.
I kind of have to buy it day one so I’ll be preordering on Wednesday. I’m looking forward to some of the performance boosts announced for Switch 1 games for free (hi Pokemon Scarlet and Violet) and it’s not like it’s going to get any cheaper for it. (And Path of Radiance + the Shadow Pokemon games are coming to the Expansion Pack would save me about the cost of the system to buy them outright.)
I will be getting a Switch 2, but probably not for a year or so. I have enough of a Switch backlog as it is, and none of the games coming out at or near launch are ones I want to play immediately. I may get one sooner if a new Fire Emblem game gets released in under a year (assuming they aren’t sold out or too prohibitively expensive).
I am kinda rooting for the Switch 2 to fail so Nintendo stops with this gimmick system junk and actually comes out with something that rivals modern consoles. With that said I will not be pre-ordering a Switch 2 and will withhold from buying one until an actual RPG that I care about gets released on it.
Mine is pre-ordered.
I’d much rather Nintendo keeps trying to differentiate itself, even if some things don’t take off. A lot of the complaints feel rather similar to those about the original Switch so I’m not reading too much into anything really. Nintendo really isn’t competing against the likes of the Steam Deck and other handheld PC emulators and is looking at a much wider audience (things like Game Chat and Game Share feels like it’s much easier to explain to many parents). Personal misgivings about the price are entirely reasonable, but there’s a whole societal thing about costs, wages, etc. going on that muddies everything.
I’ve pre-ordered. The Switch, to me, is like Apple/iOS. I’ve committed to the system, have a huge backlog, and haven’t updated since my launch-day Switch. I’m ready for a bigger screen, more comfortable (or at least chunkier) Joy-cons and – hopefully – better performance for the games in my backlog that I haven’t gotten around to yet. It just makes sense for me. If I’d bought an Oled Switch or was a big PC gamer with a Steamdeck, then I’m sure I’d wait for a killer exclusive.
