Actress and entrepreneur Salma Mumin recently expressed her strong disapproval of media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, following her interview with the late Ghana Freedom Party leader, Akua Donkor. Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz program, Salma described Delay’s interview style as disrespectful and unprofessional.
While acknowledging that Delay was fulfilling her role as an interviewer by asking questions sourced from social media, Salma suggested that Delay could have discussed these topics with Akua Donkor beforehand to avoid misunderstandings. She drew a parallel to American musician Beyoncé, who meticulously plans her interviews to ensure respectful interactions.
Salma criticized Delay’s tone and her tendency to repeatedly ask the same questions, which made the interview feel more like a personal attack than a professional dialogue. “I felt there was a lot going on; the disrespect was excessive, despite her doing her job,” Salma stated. “When you ask a guest a question and they answer, that should be the end of it. If you keep pressing the same question, it suggests you’re looking for a different answer and may have ulterior motives,” she emphasized.
“Sometimes you might think it is personal because of her demeanor, her expression, and how she asks her questions; sometimes you might feel you are under attack,” Salma added. Her remarks highlight the importance of maintaining professionalism and respect in media interactions, particularly during sensitive interviews.
