Shade Silver Is Free to Claim on Steam for a Limited Time

Indie developer Chris Allen is celebrating his retro-inspired dungeon crawler, Shade Silver, with a limited-time giveaway on Steam. Released last year for PC, the game is now free to claim until 10 AM PT on August 21. Once the deadline passes, it will return to its original price.

Shade Silver is a classic-style dungeon crawler that mixes action, puzzles, and exploration. Players take on the role of a wizard navigating dangerous environments filled with traps, enemies, and hidden secrets. Each level offers treasure to uncover, pearls to collect, and bosses to defeat, all while dodging hazards and unlocking new paths. Ogres block the way forward, demanding payment to let players pass, while secrets and hidden levels keep exploration fresh.

The game’s unique glow-in-the-dark aesthetic gives it a distinctive look, with customizable visual settings and glowing stones scattered across the world to build atmosphere. Shade Silver also features a randomized soundtrack of nearly 100 songs, collectible keys and hearts, and three different ending screens that offer playful surprises. With hours of challenges and plenty of replay value, the game invites players to discover what lies around each corner in its mysterious world.

Allen has designed Shade Silver to grow over time, with plans for updates based on player feedback. The game already balances dungeon crawling, shooting mechanics, puzzle solving, and treasure hunting into a nostalgic but lively adventure.

While giving players a chance to dive into Shade Silver for free, Allen is also preparing his next project. His upcoming title, Vein Weaver Knitting, already has a demo available on Steam, showing that his inventive approach to indie game development is only just beginning.
