Fast fashion e-commerce platform SHEIN has officially returned to the Indian market after five years. However, this time SHEIN did not directly operate in India, but instead entrusted its operations in India to NextGen Fast Fashion, a subsidiary of the Indian giant Reliance under a licensing agreement.
The source from Reliance mentioned that Reliance has reached a long-term licensing agreement with SHEIN: SHEIN only provides the necessary technical support for operations in India; Reliance pays a brand usage fee and obtains full control over SHEIN’s business in India.
Reliance will independently build the supply chain for SHEIN India, and all products on the platform will be produced locally in India. At the same time, all data generated by SHEIN India will be stored within Indian borders, and SHEIN headquarters will not have access to business data in India.
