Shunfeng Launches China’s First Rail Logistics Station in Shenzhen

Shenzhen SF Express and Shenzhen Metro Group launched the country’s first rail logistics station on September 30, creating a seamless low-altitude-air-rail intermodal logistics transportation network with “air drones + ground stations + underground unmanned vehicles + subway”.

The operating hours of the Shenzhen Futian Rail Logistics Station are from 9:30 to 23:00, consistent with other commercial stores within the Futian Hub. The station undertakes drone take-off and landing tasks. Drones fly directly from the surrounding courier area to Futian Metro Station, delivering packages to the rail logistics hub. After sorting, loading into cages, and security checks at the station, they are sent to the subway. Previously, these packages were delivered through operational vehicles for transfer distribution; with the introduction of drones, cargo handling time is reduced by 50%.

On that day, inside the Futian Hub Station, Shenzhen SF Express’s smart image exhibition hall also opened its doors to visitors. The exhibition hall is open-plan, with orderly displays of building delivery robots, unmanned delivery vehicles, ARK 80 drones, remote control cabins and other intelligent applications of SF Express.

In addition, the exhibition hall is equipped with Fengchao smart lockers on site, which is also the first Fengchao locker to be installed inside a subway station nationwide. It is reported that during the National Day holiday, Fengchao will also simultaneously deploy smart lockers at more than 20 subway stations in Shenzhen to meet passengers’ needs for sending and storing packages within the subway stations.

Shenzhen SF mainly operates short-distance connections between the ground and subway stations through unmanned delivery vehicles. All express deliveries transported by the subway are packed, sorted, caged, and security checked on-site at the Futian Hub Station before being delivered into the station by SF staff and handed over to unmanned delivery vehicles for transportation along fixed routes to logistics compartments.

Currently, the site has deployed 10 unmanned shuttle vehicles, using a back-cage type structure for unmanned delivery vehicles. Warehouse personnel will place the parcels to be dispatched in cages and push them onto the vehicle at designated points for fully automated loading and unloading. The vehicle has a volume of approximately 3 cubic meters, can carry up to 500 kilograms when fully loaded, with one cage per vehicle. This vehicle uses a new integrated sensing solution equipped with 2 LiDARs, 12 cameras, with a perception range of up to 120 meters and full 360-degree environmental awareness without blind spots. It is capable of recognizing traffic lights, lane markings, obstacles, etc.
