Popular Nigerian content creator, Isaac Aloma, better known as Zicsaloma, has called out the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) over the treatment of his mother who is battling cancer.
The skit-maker said his mother was rushed to a hospital on the Island due to her deteriorating health but the hospital asked them to take her to LUTH where she had her first chemotherapy shot.
However, he said that on arriving at LUTH, they allegedly refused to take his mother in despite her critical condition, rather they asked her to go to a lab close by to run some tests.
Taking to Instagram, he recounted the distressing ordeal,
“Our medical system is terrible. My mom, who is undergoing chemotherapy and is at the point of death, was refused entry into LUTH.
We rushed her from the Island to the hospital on Okin Road, where we were told to return to LUTH because that’s where she had her initial chemotherapy. They warned us she might not make it if we didn’t act fast.”

He said his mum was taken to the lab and after the biological materials for the test were taken, she was rushed back to LUTH. Zic alleged that they, however, locked the gates and refused to let his mother in.
He said his mother is frail, looks like a “skeleton” and couldn’t stand, to the point doctors at private hospital they initially went to feared she may not survive.
In spite of her condition, he said LUTH refused to let her in or even to provide a chair or bed for her outside. He claimed the security said they couldn’t let her in until the result of the test was ready in three hours.
He continued:
“They locked my mom, my sister, and a friend I sent to assist them outside the gate. The security guard said they couldn’t let her in until her test results were out, which would take three hours.
They claimed only a doctor could grant access, but when a doctor eventually arrived, he refused to speak to me over the phone and told my sister he wouldn’t examine my mom until the results were ready.”

Zicsaloma expressed disbelief over what he perceived as a lack of compassion from the hospital staff. He questioned why a patient in such condition should be left unattended for hours.
He added that his attempts to get doctors to intervene proved abortive and all of them were “unempathetic”, insisting she would only be allowed in when the result of her test was out.
“We begged the doctor to at least look at her, but he walked away. My mom is a skeletal version of herself. Someone who’s already lifeless was just left outside like that. Where is the humanity?”
He concluded by calling on the government to urgently investigate the operations at LUTH, describing the experience as a glaring example of the need for systemic reforms in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
“Our medical team, the doctors of Nigeria, a lot of them are terrible,”
the skitmaker lamented in the video.
“The government needs to look into that hospital. This is not just about my mother—it’s about the lives of many Nigerians who may not have a voice.
“If you don’t have the connection, if you don’t know people, you’ll just die here. So terrible,” he concluded in the video.
