Spotify to raise US subscription prices in Q1 2026

Back in August, Spotify announced a price hike for Premium users in markets across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Now we hear that the Sweden-based music streaming company is preparing to raise subscription prices in the US as well.

Citing three people familiar with the matter, the Financial Times reports that Spotify is preparing to raise subscription prices in the US in the first quarter of 2026 as it seeks to demonstrate sustained profitability.

The publication also highlights the pressure on Spotify (and other music streaming services) from major record labels for a price hike to keep up with inflation.

It’s worth noting that Spotify’s last price increase in the US was in June 2024, and the premium plan for an individual currently costs $11.99/month.

There are three more premium plans available for Spotify users in the US – Student, Duo, and Family, priced at $5.99/month, $16.99/month, and $19.99/month, respectively. You can check their benefits here.
