Starship Troopers: Extermination Launches To Zero Xbox Reviews, But Here Are Some First Impressions

It’s finally on Xbox!

We’ve been waiting eons for Starship Troopers: Extermination to come to Xbox after a pretty successful PC launch, and now the time has finally arrived. This Starship Troopers romp is out now on Xbox, and despite a lack of reviews from critics on day one, we do have a good batch of impressions from over on the Xbox Store – along with a chunk of gameplay up above.

So far, the game has a 4/5 rating on Xbox Series X|S, from just over 100 user reviews. While that seems pretty high overall, there are some notable complaints throughout that review range – including mentions of technical issues.

So, we’ll throw some of those user impressions down below – both good and bad:

l7l LuSt l7l – Four Stars

“Buyer beware: Tons o’ fun, but tends to crash after long horde fights. Nothing worse than 3 to 5 hours wasted for 0 XP.. Other than that though, it’s a 16 player freak-show of fanatical fun!

XxDROID3KAxX – Four Stars

“Only issues I have with this game are the gameplay is a little jank and I’m missing my pre-order bonuses.”

Duo LionHeart2 – Four Stars

“A little rough around the edges at launch, still a lot of fun to be had. Should be great once it hits its stride.”

HyperRustynail – One Star

“You make me sit through an unskippable cutscene at the start of every match before booting out of the game the moment the cutscene ends…”

Agent 36 – One Star

“Crashed first match at extract, made it through 2nd match, 3rd match crash at extraction, the game now crashes on load in. No brightness slider. Garbage release.”

hunter demps – Five Stars

“I’m having fun, was worried the servers would be unplayable but they are holding no problem, don’t see the pre-order stuff but I’d rather wait on that than wait to play the game…”

On that last Xbox Store review, we’re noticing quite a few folks mention this missing pre-order DLC, although we are seeing reports that this issue has potentially been fixed already. At this stage, the game is not on Xbox Game Pass – with this $50 ‘Warrior Tiger’ bundle the only way to grab the title as things stand.

If you’d like to see some Reddit impressions to help make your mind up, we’ll throw a handy little thread on the title down below.

In general then, the early reception for Starship Troopers: Extermination on Xbox is quite mixed, and it might be worth holding out for some more in-depth reviews to see where the critics land on this one. It looks like there’s a solid game under the hood here, but technical issues are letting the game down somewhat right now on Xbox – hopefully these are all smoothed out in the not-so-distant future.

Has anyone tried this out for themselves yet? Go ahead and discuss this launch down below.
