Almost Time for Surviving Mars: Pioneer
Surviving Mars: Pioneer is set to launch in Early Access on May 8, 2025. This will bring the popular Martian survival series to virtual reality for the first time. Developed by Bolverk Games and published by Impact Inked in association with Paradox Interactive, the game will be available for USD 19.99 on Steam VR and Meta Quest platforms. Meta Quest users can pre-order now to receive a 10% discount and an exclusive in-game poster.
This new VR entry reimagines the Surviving Mars experience, offering players a fresh take on colonizing the Red Planet. Designed from the ground up for virtual reality, Pioneer puts players in the role of a Martian settler. The task is to build and maintain a self-sufficient outpost. From oxygen management to mining operations, survival hinges on thoughtful planning and strategic decisions.
At launch, Pioneer introduces core gameplay systems. This includes vital stat monitoring, base construction, dynamic resource contracts, and a crafting system. Players can explore the Martian terrain using jetpacks, hover bikes, and rovers, uncovering hidden anomalies that hint at a larger unfolding story. The Early Access release serves as the foundation for future updates, with community feedback playing a key role in shaping development.
Though still in progress, the game already features a rich sandbox environment that blends exploration, resource management, and survival mechanics. A PlayStation VR2 version is also in the works. It will arrive alongside the full release at the end of the Early Access period.
