Synology has officially announced the launch of two new DiskStation models, the DS1825+ and DS1525+, designed to meet the data storage and management needs of small and medium businesses as well as professional users. These compact, high-performance NAS solutions offer a powerful foundation for managing data and enhancing collaboration across teams.
According to Owen Liao, Product Manager at Synology, “These two models offer a powerful foundation for data management and collaboration. With evolving needs for data management, they are perfectly designed to deliver business-grade performance, scalability, and reliability.”
Both the DS1525+ and DS1825+ are equipped with dual 2.5GbE ports to ensure optimal performance for demanding applications, making them ideal for handling high-speed data transfers and large workloads. The DS1525+ can be upgraded to 10GbE connectivity through the E10G22-T1-Mini module, while the DS1825+ offers even more flexibility with a PCIe 3.0 slot that supports 10GBASE-T or 10/25GbE SFP+/SFP28 network cards. Both models include two M.2 slots, enabling the creation of all-flash caches or storage pools for high-performance workloads.
Performance tests show that the DS1825+ achieves impressive SMB sequential throughput speeds of up to 2,239 MB/s for read operations and 1,573 MB/s for write operations when using SSDs. Meanwhile, the DS1525+ reaches up to 1,181 MB/s read and 1,180 MB/s write, ensuring that businesses can rely on these devices for fast and efficient data access and management.
In terms of scalability, both models can be expanded with up to two 5-bay DX525 expansion units, allowing businesses to increase their storage capacity as their data needs grow. When fully expanded, the DS1525+ can support up to 300 TB of raw storage across 15 drives, while the DS1825+ can accommodate up to 360 TB across 18 drives. This scalability ensures that these models offer a future-proof solution, ready to adapt alongside growing data demands.
Synology has designed both models as full-featured systems that deliver consistent performance and long-term reliability when used with compatible hard drives. The company’s carefully curated drive compatibility framework is backed by over 7,000 hours of rigorous testing, ensuring optimal integration and dependable operation. To guarantee the best experience, Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system on these models requires the use of compatible hard drives for installation.
Beyond raw storage power, the DS1525+ and DS1825+ are packed with versatile software features tailored for modern business workloads. Synology Drive turns these systems into private cloud platforms, enabling cross-platform access and site-to-site syncing for distributed teams. The Active Backup Suite offers comprehensive backup solutions for Windows, Linux, and MacOS devices, virtual machines, and cloud accounts, with flexible off-site backup options to ensure data safety. Additionally, Surveillance Station provides scalable video management and real-time intelligent analytics, making it easy to safeguard physical assets through advanced surveillance tools.
The DS1825+ and DS1525+ will be available starting May 7, 2025, through Synology’s global network of partners and resellers. Businesses and professional users looking for reliable, scalable, and high-performance NAS solutions can look forward to adding these powerful new models to their data management setups.
