We’re feeling some positive energy
It’s been a pretty big month for Microsoft, hasn’t it? Things slowly built up to the team’s Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th — which then led to the announcement of the ROG Xbox Ally — followed up this week by more talk on the brand’s next-gen plans. The question is, after a whirlwind year-or-so for Xbox, are you more excited about the future after these June 2025 updates?
We’re definitely feeling a bit more positive energy around the PX offices, we must admit. Since Xbox gingerly announced plans to start putting its games on other platforms in early 2024, we’ve felt a little left in the dark on things, truth be told. These days though, the team is being a lot more open about its multiplatform plan – and now that we know those platforms will include multiple new Xbox devices in the future, we’ve quite excited to see what that future holds.
Obviously, the most concrete device we have right now is the ROG Xbox Ally, which is an exciting new step for Xbox. While the jury’s still out on how Microsoft manages compatibility with this thing, the early signs for this system are promising, and we’re definitely looking forward to going hands on with the device. Especially that ROG Xbox Ally X – that one sounds like the system to go for when it launches in Holiday 2025.
As for the Xbox Games Showcase, while we were a little lukewarm on the show overall, it still led to what’s looking like a stacked Fall 2025 for the team. We have three major first-party games coming in October alone, and that doesn’t include the likes of Black Ops 7 either. Oh, and those teases for next year’s showcase were more than welcome – thanks for starting the 2026 hype train already, Phil!
Finally, before we toss the topic over to you folks, we of course got lots of juicy next-gen talk this week in rather unexpected fashion. An AMD-powered next-gen console is coming, complete with backwards compatibility and what sounds like support for multiple digital storefronts. It’s all going on, and despite the vagueness of things so far, it’s still very exciting to see Xbox take big steps towards the next generation.
But, what do you think about this month’s announcements? Have they given you reason to be excited about Xbox’s future? Talk to us about all of that down below.
