How Josh Hall’s Jealousy of Tarek El Moussa Led to Christina Haack Divorce
Tarek El Moussa may know something fans don’t about his ex-wife Christina Haack.
After Christina filed for divorce from her estranged husband Josh Hall last July, Tarek—who she was married to from 2009 to 2018—seems to have assumed the responsibility of poking fun at her love life.
Indeed, when the Christina on the Coast alum teased to E! News’ Will Marfuggi that she is “just trying to do things different” when it comes to dating, her first husband quickly interjected.
“She’s secretly engaged,” Tarek joked in the joint interview with Christina and Heather Rae El Moussa, to which Christina responded, “He’s kidding, oh my god.” (For more with The Flip Off costars, tune into E! News Thursday Jan. 30 at 11 p.m.)
While Tarek’s alleged mystery man was nothing but a farce, the 41-year-old—who shares kids Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, with Tarek as well as son Hudson, 5, with ex-husband Ant Anstead—did share insight into the “healing” nature of her relationship with Tarek as they costar in The Flip Off alongside Heather.
“A lot of people have texted me—people that I know that have gone through divorces that aren’t close, that don’t speak at all,” she said, “and just said that they hope that eventually they could end up in a situation like that.”
The two have made it clear that it took a bit of work to forgive each other and rebuild their bond following their breakup. But one big contributor to maintaining the peace throughout this process was their kids.
“We’ve had our ups and downs,” Christina shared, “but mostly we’ve been great coparents throughout everything. We have very happy, healthy, amazing children. And so that’s always been our priority.”
As for Christina and Tarek’s key to coparenting? The mom of three said that one of the most important things is not letting “our feelings get in the way of our children.”
“It’s about the kids,” she noted, “and we’re the adults here, right?”

And along with the cathartic bond between the two exes, Heather—with whom Tarek shares son Tristan, nearly 2—has been welcomed with open arms as part of the family.
“All three of us love these kids like more than anything,” Christina said, “so we’ve always made them a priority. And then through making them a priority, we were able to build our relationship back again.”
Beyond showing her adoration for the kids, Heather has also shown her support for the Christina on the Coast star throughout her ongoing divorce. In fact, it seems that all three had a similar take on how the energy shifted once Josh walked away from filming.
“The three of us are in this industry, and we’ve been filming TV shows a very long time,” Tarek said of the HGTV series. “We understand what we’re doing. We understand what it takes. And when you have someone that is not in the industry coming in to work with people like us, it can be very challenging.”
And the Selling Sunset alum was emphatic in her agreement.
“Honestly,” Heather added, “when he left that dynamic of us 3 came back together and we just had a lot of fun together.”

In April 2022, fans learned that Christina and Josh privately tied the knot. They then celebrated their union with a wedding in Hawaii that September.
“Shared vows in front of family and our close friends,” Christina wrote on Instagram Sept. 4. “Everything in life has led me to where I am right now, which is exactly where I want to be. My dream man on the dreamiest island. Maui holds a special place in my heart. What an amazing night filled with love.”It would later be revealed that the two actually wed in October 2021.

The real estate agent celebrated the HGTV star’s birthday with a sweet tribute.
“Happy 40th Birthday to my absolute stunner of a wife!” he wrote on Instagram. “This woman has accomplished so much, inspired so many and continues to impress me daily. I can’t say enough about what an absolute force she is and what she is capable of. Christina is about to make her 40’s the best decade of her life and looking better than ever while doing it!I’m a lucky man and thank my lucky stars that she chose me to take this ride with her that is now our life. In her own filing, Christina cited the same reason but did not agree with Josh on their date of separation being July 8. She listed July 7 as their breakup date.
