TCN energises power transformers at Agbara, Ajah substations in Lagos

The Transmission Company of Nigeria says it has energised a 150 megavolt amperes power transformer at the Agbara Transmission Substation and a 110MVA transformer at the 330/132/33 kilovolts Ajah transmission substation.

TCN spokeswoman Ndidi Mbah said in a statement on Tuesday that both substations were under the Lagos region.

Ms Mbah said that the 150MVA transformer at the Agbara substation in Ogun increased the substation’s capacity from 150MVA to 275MVA, enhancing bulk power delivery to Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

She said that the increased capacity would be distributed to customers in Agbara, OPIC, Badagry, Ishasi, Ajara, and the surrounding areas.

According to her, the 110MVA transformer at the Ajah substation in Lagos, on the other hand, added 59 megawatts to the substation’s existing 224MW wheeling capacity.

The TCN spokesperson said that it would also enable Eko DisCo to improve power supply to Jakande, Ajah, Agungi, Chevron, and the surrounding areas.

”Both projects were executed under the Central Bank-funded Service Level Agreement initiative to strengthen the national grid and enhance bulk power delivery.

”TCN remains committed to the continued expansion and upgrade of its transmission network for a more efficient bulk power delivery nationwide,” Ms Mbah said.
