Tesla China Region Reopens FSD Limited Transfer Policy

Tesla announced on September 5th that the Chinese and European versions of FSD (Full Self-Driving Capability) are expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year, pending regulatory approval.

On October 15th, Tesla announced a limited-time transfer policy for Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability for users in the Chinese market. Prior to this, Tesla had offered a similar policy in July last year.

According to official information, existing car owners who enjoy FSD benefits can transfer their original FSD benefits to a new Model S / 3 / X / Y vehicle ordered and delivered by December 31, 2024.

In April this year, during Elon Musk’s visit to China, Tesla and other car companies announced that they had completed all the necessary approvals for data compliance. Additionally, Tesla reached a navigation and map data cooperation agreement with Baidu. All of this indicates that Tesla is progressing in an orderly manner with compliance reviews.

In May this year, there were reports from foreign media that Tesla China is preparing to file its FSD function with relevant departments in order to launch this feature later in the year. Although Tesla’s FSD has not yet been launched in the Chinese market, it was already sold along with the Model 3 at a price of RMB 64,000. Tesla also plans to introduce an FSD subscription service in China priced at around $98 per month.
