Tesla’s FSD Yet to be Approved in China

According to China Daily, several informed sources revealed that the Chinese government supports Tesla in taking the lead in testing some FSD (Full Self-Driving) features, provided it complies with existing laws and regulations. However, FSD has not yet been approved by regulatory authorities in China, and the related evaluation work is still underway.

The report stated that Musk had proposed to relevant departments, hoping to directly obtain some non-sensitive video data for training its autonomous driving system. He also proactively suggested that there could be a dedicated government team to comprehensively evaluate these video data to ensure data security.

In September, Tesla’s AI team released a roadmap for the deployment of FSD around the world, predicting that FSD full autonomous driving will be launched in China and Europe in Q1 of next year, pending regulatory approval.

Regarding this timeline, informed sources all said: “The progress is not that fast.” At present, the related work is still in the evaluation stage, and relevant departments are intensively studying and deeply analyzing multiple aspects such as autonomous driving technology, data security, laws and regulations, and technical standards.
