Though I Am an Inept Villainess Anime Concept Visual Released

An anime adaptation was announced for Satsuki Nakamura and Kana Yuki’s Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court in March, and today we have another look at what’s in the works. The latest preview comes in the form of a new concept visual, featuring the tagline “On a night when a comet shone brightly, the fate of the two swapped.”

Mitsue Yamazaki (ZENSHU) directs the anime, with Yoshiko Nakamura (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) on series composition and Ai Kikuchi (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie) on character designs for the Doga Kobo production.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the original novels and Ei Ohtsuji’s manga adaptation. Here’s the official synopsis:

In the Kingdom of Ei, five clans put forth their maidens as imperial consorts—but only one will be crowned empress. Just when frail and beautiful “court butterfly” Kou Reirin seems poised to marry the crown prince, jealous “court rat” Shu Keigetsu steals her body! Reirin wakes up in the dungeons as the conspirator, and things look dire…or do they? Now that she’s got a robust new body, not even the looming threat of execution can stop her!
