TikTok announces restoration of US services

TikTok announced on Jan. 19 that it was restoring services to US users and would work with US President Trump to find a long-term solution that would let the app stay in the US. Earlier on Sunday, TikTok suspended its services in the US, and users who attempted to access the app saw a message reading: “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.”
In a post on social media, Trump stated that he would issue an executive order on the first day of his presidency, Jan. 20, pushing forward the deadline for the TikTok ban. He also said that companies helping TikTok avoid shutdown would not be held responsible before the executive order is issued. Trump indicated that, to save TikTok, he hoped the US would hold a 50% stake in any future joint venture. [TechNode report]
