It’s the question that’s apparently on everyone’s minds, including the NFL press corps: Will Travis Kelce pop the question to Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl 2025 on Sunday in New Orleans?
During a press conference Monday evening in New Orleans, the opening night of Super Bowl LIX festivities, Kelce was on the receiving end of a pair of back-to-back questions about a different ring. Namely, he was asked whether he plans to propose to the singer after the game.
When a reporter asked Kelce, who is on a quest for his third Super Bowl ring in a row and fourth in his career, if he was going to present “anyone special” with “a ring,” Kelce deflected.
“Anyone special? A Super Bowl ring?” he said. “Next question.”
The next reporter, too, asked whether he planned to propose to Swift.
“Damn, back-to-back. You guys are crazy,” Kelce said, before coyly closing the door on the line of inquiry by saying, “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
And indeed, it seems that many people, beyond those reporters, would. A popular prop bet around the weekend’s game, in addition to the usual “who will win,” “how long will the National Anthem take,” this and that, is whether Kelce will propose to Swift, who he has been dating since summer 2023.
For academic purposes, if you’re wondering, the smart money is on a Super Bowl ring, not an engagement ring. The odds, according to the New York Times’ Athletic, are -950 for no, and +500 for yes. It’s more likely, according to whatever sentiment is used to calculate the figures, that Kelce will take a knee to run out the game clock than to ask for Swift’s hand in marriage.
Of course, those weren’t the only Swift-related questions for Kelce at the presser. The people also needed to know what his favorite treat from the noted baker is. On that topic, he was much more forthcoming. “Oh, she’s quite the cook,” he said. “I’m a breakfast guy, man. I would say her homemade Pop Tarts are unbelievable.”
Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday. If the Chiefs win, it will be an unprecedented third Super Bowl championship in a row.
