At the Spring Festival Gala, the Hangzhou civilian robot company Unitree, which performed a Yangko dance and became popular, is currently recruiting representatives for its Beijing and Shanghai branches with a monthly salary ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 yuan.
The recruitment platform shows that the job responsibilities include: overall coordination of the construction of Beijing and Shanghai branches, technical planning, personnel management; responsible for collecting local industrial and industry policies in the region, applying for project funds etc. Applicants are required to have a background from prestigious universities, a master’s degree or above in engineering disciplines; at least 3 years of experience in robot technology.
Regarding whether Unitree is preparing to establish a branch office in Beijing, Unitree co-founder Chen Li confirmed to the media that this news is true.
There have been signs of Unitree preparing branches in Beijing and Shanghai. By the end of 2024, Unitree had invested in establishing two companies, namely Shanghai Gaoyi Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Lingyi Technology Co., Ltd., both engaged in technology promotion and application services, with Unitree holding full ownership.
Public information shows that Unitree was founded in 2016 as a Hangzhou-based technology company specializing in the research and application of high-performance quadruped robots and humanoid robots. Its main products include consumer-grade robot dogs (such as Go1, Go2, A1), industry-level robot dogs (such as B1, B2), and humanoid robots (such as H1, G1).
Among them, Go1 is the world’s first consumer-grade companion biomimetic quadruped robot. Unitree holds a leading position in the global quadruped robot market; its sales share reached 69.75% in 2023 with a market size share of 40.65%, ranking first globally. In addition, its humanoid robot G1 surpassed Boston Dynamics and Tesla to become the best-selling model at a price of RMB 99,000.
In early 2024, Unitree announced the completion of Series B financing with a funding amount of nearly 1 billion yuan. Investors include existing shareholders Shenzhen Capital Group, Meituan, Goldstone Investment, Source Code, and Zhongwang Investment.
After appearing on the Spring Festival Gala in the Year of the Snake, Unitree gained even more fame. Along with DeepSeek and Game Science, they are collectively known as the “Six Little Dragons” of Hangzhou. These technology companies have emerged in Hangzhou in recent years and have risen in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics. Recently, due to the popularity of DeepSeek and Unitree, there have been frequent discussions on social platforms about why these star innovative companies like DeepSeek and Unitree originated from Hangzhou rather than traditional tech hubs like Beijing or Shenzhen.
