Walmart China Stores Are Connected to Meituan Delivery

On December 17th, Walmart China and Meituan announced a strategic partnership. The two parties will deeply cooperate in areas such as instant delivery, product variety, product operations, digital customer capabilities, and digital marketing.

Currently, all Walmart stores nationwide have fully launched on Meituan and are connected to Meituan‘s delivery service.

Walmart China stated that accelerating the omni-channel transformation is one of the important strategic initiatives for the transformation of Walmart stores. Currently, e-commerce business accounts for nearly half of Walmart China’s business. Walmart China and Meituan announced a partnership to help more customers enjoy a multi-scenario, diversified shopping experience.

In August this year, Walmart sold its stake in JD.com, stating: “JD has always been an important partner, and we are committed to establishing a sustainable business relationship with them; the decision to reduce our holdings allows us to focus on Walmart China and Sam’s Club’s strong Chinese operations and allocate funds to other priorities.”

Meituan reported a net profit of 12.86 billion yuan in the third quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 258%; in the third quarter of 2024, Meituan‘s instant delivery business continued to grow steadily with a 14.5% increase in order volume.
