MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” has released a special teaser video brimming with Christmas vibes!
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).
Choi Min Soo stars as Ji Chun Pil, Kang Hee’s eccentric and free-spirited father, who also owns the countryside motel.
On December 25, “Motel California” unveiled a special teaser in celebration of Christmas. The video kicks off with the residents of Hana Village throwing a lively party in the Motel California lobby. However, instead of a Christmas carol, they sing a birthday song—revealing the surprising twist that both Ji Chun Pil and Ji Kang Hee share the same birthday—December 25. Ji Chun Pil’s spirited enthusiasm sharply contrasts with Ji Kang Hee’s clear irritation as she says, “I don’t want birthday congratulations from you, Mr. Chun Pil.”
The teaser also highlights sweet moments between Ji Kang Hee and Cheon Yeon Soo as a couple. Yeon Soo transforms into a Santa just for Kang Hee and confesses with endearing sincerity, “I like you! I’ve always liked you.” Romantic, heart-fluttering scenes between the two follow, showcasing their growing affection. Humor is added when a scene of the couple sharing a cozy moment on a bed is interrupted by Ji Chun Pil’s advice: “Daughter, don’t forget birth control!”
