Who is Lee Minsung in Solo Leveling: Arise? Is He Evil?

Solo Leveling: Arise is back with its 6th episode of the anime, and fans are really excited as Jinwoo’s power has been revealed to a small part of Korean officials, which opens the possibility of him getting promoted to S-rank. However, the episode ended with the introduction of a new character named Lee Minsung, which had people confused, not knowing what his role was and the reason for his abrupt appearance.

In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about Lee Minsung: his role in the anime, his strengths, weaknesses, and most of all, if he’s evil or not. We will be citing a few incidents from the Solo Leveling manhwa, so kindly proceed cautiously if you want to avoid spoilers.

Lee Minsung is primarily a famous Korean actor who also happens to be an A-rank hunter. He is a handsome young man with black eyes and wavy black hair. Lee Minsung is considered to be a pretty good actor, and he acquired a lot of fans in his early days, but his reputation in the Korean entertainment industry deteriorated due to his nasty personality.

Externally, Lee Minsung appeared to look like a humble and selfless person. However, in reality, he is actually quite selfish, arrogant, and self-centered. He always wants to be in the spotlight (for good reasons) and tries his best to have the media portray him in the best way possible. He even had his business tycoon father use his money to get the things he wants. In short, he is spoiled, bratty, selfish, and human scum.

2. Why Lee Minsung Was Suddenly Introduced

Solo Leveling has now reached a point where Sung Jinwoo’s abilities have been revealed to a small portion of hunters, and this information isn’t going to sit still. This also means that Jinwoo will soon be announced to be Korea’s 10th S-rank hunter. Lee Minsung’s involvement here is quite comical, and for this, we’ll have to explain Lee Minsung’s scandal in the Korean entertainment industry.

While Lee Minsung was initially a really popular and well-recognized Asian movie star, this reputation wasn’t destined to last for long, considering his vile personality. He was known to constantly flirt with several models in the industry, including Jinho’s cousin, Yoo Soohyun. This, combined with his egotistical attitude, earned him a lot of hate from the general public. To escape this, Lee Minsung decided to retire from acting for 2 years. He then became a hunter, earned an A rank title, and joined the Fiend Guild. He also used this as a means to avoid getting sent to the Korean military.

Minsung wanted to make his joining of the Fiend Guild a huge event so people would think of him in a positive light; as someone who struggled to save humans, and for this, he paid huge sums to the guild to promote it. However, on the day of his joining the Fiend Guild, Jinwoo was announced to be Korea’s 10th S-rank hunter, which broke the media, and Jinwoo got every bit of attention, which completely ruined Lee Minsung’s plans.

3. Is Lee Minsung Evil?

No, Lee Minsung isn’t an evil character, as he doesn’t really bring any physical harm to others with his horrible personality. His sudden introduction to the anime was mostly for comedic purposes, as this greedy actor got outshined by an E-rank hunter’s unexpected S-rank promotion. It also goes to show how important the birth of a new S-rank hunter is to Korea and its people, as Korea’s wording ranking in terms of strength would definitely go higher with Jinwoo’s addition to the ranks.

Lee Minsung is decent as a hunter, to say the least. He does have enhanced strength, high speed, and even good skill with the sword. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that he is quite talented and could become an S-rank hunter in the future, considering the fact that he managed to quickly attain a high rank not too long after his awakening.
