A new community update

If you’ve been keeping up with Black Ops 6 and the current Call of Duty scene as of late, you’ll probably have noticed quite a bit of negativity in the community. Over the holidays, it seems that plenty of issues have cropped up regarding online servers, cheaters and the likes – and developer Treyarch has now tackled these concerns head-on.
In a new community blog post, the team has outlined what changes are being made as Black Ops 6 moves over into Season 2. With cheaters, the anti-cheat team says that it has “updated detection models for behavioral systems, such as aim botting”, and has implemented new warning systems for players that regularly party up with cheaters. The team also says that 136,000 accounts have been banned since Ranked Play launched.
“In December, we announced that we’re implementing major upgrades to the currently online and active kernel-level driver for Season 02, as well as upgrades to server-side systems in early 2025.”
If you’ve been having server issues in Black Ops 6 as well, the team hears you. It has been “monitoring match activity closely” and the folks at Demonware have implemented “new improvements to Call of Duty’s server infrastructure this week to reduce targeted cases of malicious activities on our infrastructure and players”. The team has also solved some server issues in regions where connection instability has been a common concern.
Finally, the COD team is also making changes to crossplay – a hot topic that we discussed recently in a Pure Xbox feature. For Ranked Play, Treyarch will be “enabling the ability to disable crossplay for console players who want to compete only against other console players” – basically filtering out PC players. This appears to focus on Ranked Play for now, but we’d like this to come to all online playlists in future.
