Gears of War: E-Day is already one of the most anticipated titles on the way to the Xbox in the future and it seems Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has recently checked in with developer The Coalition to get a status update.
In a post on social media to kick off the month of February, Spencer revealed how he had spent some “quality time this week” with the team in Canada, to see how its progress is going on E-Day. Unfortunately, he didn’t expand on this, but he did share a shot of himself with the team. You can see him towards the right side of the photo alongside Craig Duncan, who is now the head of Xbox Game Studios.

This visit from Spencer follows an update earlier this week with the announcement the developer ‘People Can Fly’ would be supporting The Coalition on E-Day. As you might recall, this is the same studio who worked on Gears of War: Judgement back in the day and more recently released Outriders.
Gears of War: E-Day was originally announced last year in June 2024 and will be an Unreal Engine 5 experience returning to the origin of Marcus Fenix and his crew. It’s been previously rumoured to be launching this year, but there’s been no official announcement from Xbox at this stage.
Are you excited about The Coalition’s next Gears game? Let us know.
