Xiaohongshu Launches AI Search Product ‘Dian Dian’

Recently, Xiaohongshu launched an AI search product called Dian Dian, which is similar in positioning to Xiaohongshu. It is a lifestyle-oriented AI search product that has been launched on various app stores.

From the product introduction, Dian Dian is a vertical AI search assistant for life scenarios, aiming to aggregate life experiences from across the internet and promptly provide users with answers related to food, shopping, travel, entertainment, guides, life tips and other topics. In the latest product update, Dian Dian now supports asking questions by taking photos and can directly play videos in responses.

The core functions of Dian Dian include automatically pushing travel guides and food spot recommendations based on location information, summarizing information from across the internet using AI technology, and providing video responses. In actual use cases, Dian Dian operates like a large-scale application with only question-and-answer functionality and features a relatively simple interface.

In fact, Xiaohongshu has made many attempts in the field of AI before.

In March 2023, Xiaohongshu began preparing for an independent large model team and actively promoted the development of the large model ‘Xiaodigua’; In April of the same year, Xiaohongshu launched the creative application ‘Trik’ featuring Chinese-style AI drawing, which was later taken down due to copyright disputes; In July of the same year, it successively launched the doodle and ‘Now’ functions focusing on text-image generation to help users generate images with AI through inputting text or doodling, enhancing the fun and richness of content creation; In September, based on MiniMax’s large language model company’s large language model, it started testing AI chat function ‘Da Vinci’ in its app.
