XPeng Motors Surpasses Li Auto to Become the Monthly Sales Champion

In the first month of the year, there was a change in the landscape of new car makers. XPeng Motors surpassed Li Auto to become the monthly sales champion.

On February 1st, XPeng Motors announced its latest delivery results, showing that it delivered a total of 30,350 new cars in January, an increase of 268% compared to last year. This marks three consecutive months with deliveries exceeding 30,000 units. The strong sales performance of XPeng Motors is supported by two new models: MONA and P7+. The former has delivered over 15,000 units for two consecutive months while the latter has accumulated over 20,000 deliveries since its launch two months ago.

Li Auto fell short by just over four hundred vehicles compared to XPeng Motors and lost the title of being the top-selling new car maker after holding it for several months. In January, Li Auto delivered 29,927 new cars with a historical cumulative delivery volume reaching 1,163799 units as of January 31st.

Leapmotor delivered 25,170 vehicles in January with a growth rate of 105%. Leapmotor had previously released profit forecasts and announced that it achieved net profitability in the fourth quarter of 2024 ahead of schedule by one year, reaching the goal of quarterly profitability. This milestone makes Leapmotor the second new force in achieving profitability.

In January, Xiaomi SU7 delivered over 20,000 vehicles again, with delivery exceeding 20,000 for four consecutive months. Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, revealed on a live broadcast on January 25 that the total delivery volume of Xiaomi SU7 has exceeded 150,000 units. The annual delivery target for Xiaomi cars in 2025 is 300,000 units.

NIO delivered 13,863 new cars in January, an increase of 37.9% year-on-year. Among them, NIO brand delivered 7,951 new cars; ONVO brand delivered 5,912 new cars.

Regarding new energy brands established by traditional car companies: VOYAH delivered 8,009 new cars in January with a year-on-year growth of14%; Avita had sales of8826 units in January with a year-on-year growth rate exceeding25%; Zeekr delivered11 ,942 vehicles in January; GAC AION’s global sales reached14 ,393 units inJanuary.

It is worth noting that due to factors such as the Spring Festival holiday, the monthly sales volumes of major emerging electric vehicle manufacturers generally showed a month-on-month decline compared to December last year. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers previously pointed out that there were 19 working days in January 2025,which was three days fewer than bothJanuary last year and December last year. The automobile industry usually starts its holiday early before the Spring Festival, hence the short effective production and sales time in January.
